You wouldn't guess by the photos, but this session was shot exclusively in a grass field shared with grazing (and confused) cows. We watched our step as we made our way to the incredible solo tree growing in the middle of the field. I felt a little guilty for making an 8-month pregnant lady hike out to the photo spot, but camera gear is heavy too, ya know?
The sun started to drop and we worked with golden hour light until it faded out. I then grabbed a speed light, a shoot-through, and my subject's boyfriend as a 'voice-activated' lightstand. We tried some shots with the flash against a darkening sky and got some decent results. At this point, the cows were starting to wander over, so, we packed up and headed back.
All tight shots were taken with my Pentax DA* 50-135mm f2.8 and my Pentax M 135mm f2.0. Wide shots were done with the Pentax DA* 16-50mm f2.8 and lit with a single Yongnuo YN 560 III + 560TX.
